LIGHT LEAKS FESTIVAL
A festival that celebrates everyday life and urban testimonies through the eyes of photographers – Storytelling in street photography, photojournalism and documentary photography.
In 2016 the Luxembourg Streetphoto collective turned the popular Slide Nights into the full-scale Luxembourg Street Photography Festival hosting conferences of renowned photographers such as Magnum Member Harry Gruyaert, Sabine Weiss, Jane Evelyn Atwood, Matt Stuart, Jean-Christophe Béchet and many more at the Rotondes in Luxembourg. Over the years, the festival continued to grow and elements such as our annual exhibit, the Open Wall and the DiscoverBox were added.
In 2023 the festival will for the first time feature its new name “Light Leaks Festival”. The rebranding will clarify the focus on street and documentary photography and provide a strong and recognizeable beacon for lovers of the genre far and beyond. With its origins in Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Streetphoto Collective aims to set the festival up for an international audience
In this vein, like every year, the speakers list in 2023 feature internationally well known photographers from the street photography and documentary genres. This year’s invitees are Tatsuo Suzuki, Graciela Magnoni, and Max Pinckers.
Furthermore, in addition to the annual exhibition which features a select group of more than 20 local photographers, an international street photography collective, and a local high school, this year there will be an outdoor exhibit in the courtyard of the cultural center Rotondes in Luxembourg City. The outdoor exhibition will feature work by the guest speakers and run from 15.5 to 9.6.2023
The Light Leaks Festival also offers a venue for exchange amongst professionals, hobbyists, amateurs and anyone with an interest in the topic. In this perspective a number of workshops, a Gear and Book Market, Portfolio Reviews, and a DiscoverBox where anyone can present their work are featured.
